Vintage Recipes Made Modern - Retro Housewife Goes Green (1)

Today I wanted to do a bit of a throwback to my favorite former blogger and her former YouTube show Making It Modern. She took sometimes crazy vintage recipes and turned them into delicious modern dishes.

I loved watching these videos and I’m sad she moved on from them. I was thinking about the videos the other day and thought it would be nice to show a new audience how fun they were.

The videos are still available on YouTube so you can still watch and enjoy. The recipes are also so much fun so I’m sure you will want to try a few, maybe even the vintage versions.

I’m so sad that this show is over but it’s great that we can still watch all of the great episodes. It’s fun to try the vintage recipes, at least some of them, and the modern takes are perfect to make any time.

You can also watch many of the episodes on Amazon Prime Video. Closed caption is available for those that need it.

That channel and shows were fun.

Since she didn’t become the next Martha Stewart, she stopped.

Now she’s the “glamorous housewife” on Facebook, and just goes off on politics.

The glamorous is long gone. Too bad.

Bethany’s life changed and she needed to do other things. I wish she had two pages instead but it is what it is. She is still the same sweet person, just things have changed for her and like many bloggers she had to let go of her blog. I do miss her blog a lot.

I used to make a very similar strawberry cake every year for David’s birthday. His birthday is in April, which is the height of the strawberry season in NOLA. He was not a big fan of chocolate when he was younger, ( much to the horror of his chocoholic father) but he loved strawberries. Mine was a white cake, but with the gelatin topping, but it had a “7 minute frosting” top. Almost like a marshmallow crepe, but lighter. Now I need to go look for that recipe….
